Building Pages

All pages are built directly on the website using the WYSIWYG editor. If you have never built web pages (constructed of HTML) there are several thing that you need to know.

HTML is a good format, but much different than building pages in a normal word processing program such as Microsoft Word.

The biggest difference is that an html page can be any size in width and length. So you must define the page size and format the page to fit the average computer. Just because a page looks great on your computer does not mean that someone else will see the page as you do. Learning to build great pages can take thousands of hours of learning, so we recomend keeping it simple and using as many of the tools we offer to insure that your page works properly.

This help page will attempt to give you some basic insight into building simple pages using the online page builder.

Step 1 - add a page. Before you can build a page you will need to add the page to your website. The name of the page will also be the Menu Button Text. So if the page is about widgets, you should name the page "About Widgets". Names can include spaces but will be replaced with "_" in the actual url for compatibility with all computers viewing your pages.

  • To Add A Page
  • Click Edit Pages
  • Click Add A New Page
  • You will see a list of current pages followed by a form to add a new page
  • Type in the page name
  • Click Submit
  • The page is now added to your website

* one nice feature about the system is that pages can be renamed at any time. So if you decide to change the name it is as easy as naming the page the first time.

Step 2 - edit or build the actual page

  • Click Edit Page
  • You will see a table with all of your pages and links to edit, delete and view each page.
  • Click the edit link next to the page you wish to edit
  • Type text into the editor that you want to appear on the page.
  • Click the camera icon on the editor and your image gallery will appear. Find the image you would like to have in your page and click on it. The pic will be added to your page at the location of your cursor. (images can only be added to existing lines and justified right, left or center unless you subdivide the page using tables). Once an image is added, it can be resized and draged to any location in the page that meets the HTML criteria.

Step 3 - save the page

  • Click the Save button at the bottom of the page editor
  • A preview of the page will be displayed
  • Choose either to continue editing the page or exit the editor

Step 4 - view the page

  • Make sure you view the page. Do not just assume it looks great. Verify that the page is working as you wanted and that all the images are aligned correctly.

Advanced page editing. Now that you have built a simple page you will no doubt want to explore adding some more advanced features and programs to your pages. The system includes many programs that can be added to pages making the site interactive or e-commerce enabled with online shopping.
