Buidling A Members or Password Protected Section

We provided some basic tools to create and even charge for access to pages. Many companies have information they want to sell or just limit access to dealers and keep out prying eyes. Generaly businesses will use this feature to publish dealer or wholesale prices and not share that information with the end buyer.

It is also usefull if you want to offer advice or help articles, similar to a magazine subscription. Other possibilities include information access such as The Thomas Register.

The members section has its own management page
[
Member Management ]

From that page you can add memebrs, set pricing and build pages that only those authorized can access.

The first step is setting up the members area will be to create a username and pass for yourself. This will allow you to see the pages you are building.

The members area is not a secure encrypted area, but it is protected by the highest level of password protection. However, the images are in the main directort and are still accessible to the general public, if they know the url of the image.

This area is not intended to protect images, it is designed to allow access to data.

You can allow people to sign up free or paid or reserve the right to yourself to designate access and set up the account manually. If you are selling information, then sell access. If you are providing access to dealers or wholesalers, you should set up the account manually.

You can send the same username and pass to all your dealers or you can set up an account for each. If you know anything about supporting passwords, you will likely opt to send everyone the same username and pass. It will also make your job easier when you want to give a new dealer access.

There are lots of possibilities for the secure area. For information on managing and adding to pages, see the full help page.
