Checking the Size of the New Picture and Saving Changes

Some software have the size of the picture displayed in the screen you change the size. Some software do not have it displayed at all. If you cannot see the size of your new picture from your software, you will need to save the picture to your computer and then check the size.

If you need to save the picture to check the size , from the top menu click on

(scroll down for IrfanView directions)

  • File
  • Save As
  • give the file a name (you should pick something different than the original file name)
  • at the top of the screen - click on the drop down arrow next to Save in (arrow 1) and select Desktop (Note: you are saving it to your Desktop because it is easy for you to locate. Once you have the correct size, you can save it to whatever folder you want and make sure that you delete the extra images from your Desktop because they will consume memory.)
  • at the bottom of the screen - click on the drop down arrow next to Save as type (arrow 3) and select either JPG, JPEG, or GIF (these are the only formats our system will accept)
  • then click Save (arrow 3)
  • now minimize your screens and go to your desktop
  • right-click on the image (whatever you named it)
  • select Properties
  • if the Size is greater than 500kb then you need to go back to your software and make the size smaller

If you are using IrfanView, then the size of the image is listed at the bottom of the software (circled with an arrow):

If the size is smaller than 500kb, save the picture. Refer to the saving instructions for If you need to save the picture to check the size. However, you do not need to save it to your Desktop - you can save it to whatever folder you like as long as you can find it later.
