eStore Web 2.0 Shopping Cart

eStore Shopping Cart

The eStore Shopping Cart is one more way to display your web store. This refined look adds in a featured product and checkout summary on each page. The layout is similar to all the popular shopping carts and Web 2.0 designed websites without giving up the accessibility of Web 1.0 design. You can achive a similar look without calling SQL Databases or fumbling through extensive PHP pages.

All the images are sized down, smaller text and more stuff crammed into the page. Not my idea of the best design, but that is what people are doing and that is what our customers have been requesting, so here it is. This is not meant as a replacement for the regular cart, just one more alternative as we continue to build the inventory of programs available for use. This should give you the ability to display a level of complexity even if you ony have a few items offered for sale.

To add the eStore to pages use the code: %%SHOP-ESTORE%%

To configure the program for use, you will need to click on the "eStore Settings" link from the main shopping cart configuration pages. The primary functions such as Shipping, Tax and adding items are the same as the regular default cart.

The only settings you will need to configure are the visual settings such as colors, logos and display types. This will give your cart a unique and updated look with setting that the bacic cart does not offer.

Layout Type - There are 2 basic layouts. A 3 collum layout that is a traditional Web 2.0 look that takes up the full width of the page. As well as a 2 collum layout that will fit into a page with a side menu on the right or left.Either design will work, it is just a matter of what fits in your template or layout and looks best with your inventory. Like all of the features here, you can switch between the 2 and see what looks best.

Colors - Because this layout uses CSS or Web 2.0 text effects you will need to define those colors which will override any current text or color settings.

You will need to specify the table color, the border around the tables and the link, active link and visited link colors. The links will change colors when you run the mouse over them from the link color to the active link color. Additionally they will show an underline in the active link color. To set the colors, click on the option in the main menu, then click on one of the color squares in the color table or type in your own hexadecimal color code.

Random and Featured ProductsYou will find a drop down menu with all of your products listed. You can choose one to be a featured product. This product will appear on every page with the name and price and a link o the main item page. If you have one item you would like to promote this is a great tool to get the item seen. The random product feature will display 4 items from the same category as the display items as long as there are more than 10 items in a category. If all the items in a category are displayed on the page then no random items will b displayed since they would be the same items. Random items will not appear on item pages, only on searches or category listing pages.

Search Form - The default setting is to have a search form included in the cart. If you only have a few items and the search is not necessary, you can select the checkbox to exclude the search form from the pages.

Display Logos - There are several logos that can automatically be included in the pages to show the type of shipping services and payment methods accepted. You can select as many or as few of the logos as you like. Each logo that is selected will appear on each page.

Page Messages, Text and LinksUpper and Lower message text - You can type in short messages that will appear on the top and bottom of the right most collum of the shopping cart. You can advertise specials or offer shopping help and suggestions or whatever you need.

Main shopping Title - Appears in the small table just above the product listings.

Newest Products Title - This title appears just below the main listings and page numbers and above the random products when they are displayed.

Page Links - On the right collum there are automated links that will appear if you define the pages they should link to. The options are as follows.

  • Privacy Policy

  • Shipping Policy

  • Returns & Refunds

  • Coupons

  • Sale Items

If you do not specify a page to link to, the links will not appear in the page. Simply type in the actual page name to have the links active. Such as "Shipping.html" or "Refunds.html" if those are the pages you actually have.

Options Display The last thing to configure is the product options display. Normally this is set under the item page settings. However, this cart does not use a separate item page, so we have duplicated the settings for this feature. It also allows you a different setting than you may be using with the standard cart so they can run independently on the same website.
