Five Step Tutorial to Set Up a Good Look for your Website

The Page Properties page is broken down into several sections which you can explore when you have time. You can find a list of the help pages here. This step by step tutorial provides a condensed version and will allow you to set up the look of your website in about 10 minutes.

  1. Click on the Page Properties icon at the top.

  2. Pick a Look: Under the Templates or Layouts section, click on either Standard Templates or Boutique Templates. Find a template you like and click on the Change Template button beneath the template picture.

  3. Add your Name: Under the Title Space / Company Logo section, click on the Customize The Template Title link. Make the following selection:

    • For 1) Customize the Original or Current image or make a New image: select Customize the Original Image

    • For 2) Set 3D Effects: do not make any changes

    • For 3) Choose the Colors: click on Text Color under Select Option and then go over to the color chart and click on a text color that would look good with your template. If your title space is light in color, then pick a dark color and vice versa. (Not sure what your title space looks like? Scroll up and find the box that says Original Image which appears right below the last paragraph of text.) Ignore the other options.

    • For 4) Choose the text, font and properties: select 40 for Text Size, select 0 for Text Border, select Arial Bold for font type (or whatever font you want), in the box right below the text "Type the text as you want it to appear on the banner," type your company name.

    • Click on the Update Title Image button.

    • To see your work: Click on the Website Home icon at the top (third icon over from the right hand side). If the text does not fit or you want it bigger, follow the steps for number three again. If you do not see a change, make sure to refresh your page. If you're not sure how to refresh your page, click here.

  4. Make your Buttons: Under the Menu Buttons section, click on the Make Menu Button Images link. Make the following selection:

    • For Current Button Settings: select Make new buttons with new options.

    • For Choose A Button Image or Make A New One: select the image that matches the template you are using (that is the first one out of the two images you see).

    • For Image 3D Effects: do not make any changes

    • For Choose The Colors: click on Text Color under Select Option and then go over to the color chart and click on a text color that would look good with your button. If your button is a light color, then pick a dark color and vice versa. (Not sure what your button looks like? Scroll up to the Choose A Button Image or Make A New One section and take a look at the button you selected.) Ignore the other options.

    • For Set Size, Font & Alignment: select 15 for Text Size, select 0 for Text Border, select Arial Bold for font type (or whatever font you want but these tend to be easiest to read on buttons: Antique, all the Arials, Comic Sans, all the Verdanas), select center for Alignment, leave 0 for Edge Space.

    • Click on the Make Buttons button.

    • To see your work: Click on the Website Home icon at the top (third icon over from the right hand side). If the text does not fit or you want it bigger, follow the steps for number four again. If you do not see a change, make sure to refresh your page. If you're not sure how to refresh your page, click here.

  5. You're done! You have your website look set up. To see your website (if you haven't yet): Click on the Website Home icon at the top (third icon over from the right hand side). If you do not see a change, make sure to refresh your page. If you're not sure how to refresh your page, click here.
