Simplecart Configuration Help

The Simplecart is called simple not because it has less features but because it is a simplified diplay format with larger thumbnails, larger text, no extra images or links and an overall simplified look. The simple cart has all the same functions as the eStore and browse programs such as gift certificates, wholesale pricing and affiliate management and tracking. It is only to fill another need for a unique and customizable look for dispaying items for sale.

Below is an explanation of each configuration option and how it will impact the look and opertion of the Simplecart.

Choose A Layout Type - The layouts are very basic. One has a menu to the left, one with a menu on top and the other with no menu. You can use one of the set layouts or build your own template using the replacement values as with all of our programs.

Category Menu - By default the menu will be the menu for the chosen layout. However you can choose to create an alternate menu file or assign one of the pages on the website to replace the menu.

Display Style - The display style can be a list format or browse type. The list format is 10 per page with thumbnails and brief descriptions. The browse format is 12 or 16 thumbnails per page without the brief descriptions.

Thumbnail Size - You can set the size of the thumbnails to be displayed. 200 pixels is the recomended size but you can make them smaller at just 125 pixels wide. In some cases when images do not meet standard form factors 3:4 ratios they cannot all be adjusted to the same size without distortion. If the images are distored you can use the actual size which will detract from the clean look but preserve the image quality.

Text Size - If you are stuck in web 2.0 mode you can make the text small which is harder to read but makes your site look like all the other fools out there with small text. If you know your customers have issues with small or normal text you can increase the size to make everything ultravisable.

Search Form - The simple cart has full search capability and includes a search form by default. You can choose to exclude the form if you already have one in your page or just don't want to offer that option.

Add To Cart Option - Each of the item pages will have an add to cart button. The simplecart will also let you have an add to cart button on the thumbnail pages for fast and easy ordering. If you have extensive options it may not be the best look for the browse style pages but should work well with the list format.

Product Option Display - Choose if you would like the product options displayed in select forms or radio buttons.

Options Text - If your options require an additional payment this will let you modify how that is displayed on the page.

Currency Symbol - If you would like to use an alternate currency other than US Dollars, you can specify the symbol to be used rather than the standard $. Use pounds £ euros € or specify country such as CAN $. This allows for alternate currency display. The value you enter will be displayed in place of the standard $.

Default Sort and Order
By default, the main page will list items in no specified order. You can change the sort default and sort order to alter the items displayed on the main page and recursive pages.

Display Quantity Available - Check if you would like to show the number of items you have in stock. You can also set the enforce quantity in the checkout to prevent sale of more items than you have in stock.

Hide The No Image Thumbnails - By default if no image is available then a "No Image" will be shown. If you would like to remove the no image thumbnails and link the descriptions to the full page check this option.
