Create Alternate Menu File

This page allows you to revert back to the Standard Menu, to point the menu to a page you created, or to use the Multi Level Menu.

When you created the Multi Level Menu (click here for Step One and here for Step Two), the system generated the CSS code you see above under the Use Custom Menu File Below. If you do not want to use this CSS code or make changes to the above code, you can do so here. Remember that CSS is complicated and not supported on all browsers. If you don't know what you're doing, then don't make the changes. If you know what you're doing, you should still save the code on another page just in case you make a mistake. When you finish, click on the Update button. Make sure to double check your work.

If you decide that you no longer want the CSS menu, then you can select the Use Default Menu & Menu Tools. You can learn more about this menu here. You can also use an HMTL page as the menu. NOTE: If you decide that you do not want to use the CSS menu but rather one of the other options, the system will erase the CSS menu. If you then decide you want to go back to using a CSS menu, you will need to recreate that multi level menu (click here for Step One and here for Step Two).

To create a menu and use it for the Use an HTML Page as the menu:

  • First you need to create the page
  • Click on the Edit Pages icon at the top
  • Click on the Add a New Page link and add a new page (call it menu)
  • Find the page in the list, click on Edit and then add whatever you want to appear in the menu. Save your page. You can make your own images or use text buttons. Note: If you are using a layout or template that places your menu on the side, then you should create your menu going up and down. If you are using a layout or template that places your menu across, then you should create your menu from left to right. The example below shows the feature being used with a template that has the menu on the left hand side.

  • Click on the Page Properties icon at the top
  • Click on the Exclude Pages/Buttons From Main Menu and then exclude the menu.html page
  • Click on the Create Alternate Menu File link, select the Use an HTML Page as the Menu and then type in the name of the html page you created such as menu.html. Save your changes.

When you finish, go to your website and double check your work.
