Page
Properties
At the top of every page in
your Management Console you will find an icon for "Page
Properties." To get to the Page Properties section,
you need to click on that Page Properties icon.
The Page Properties section
will allow you to adjust the look of the website. This
includes changing colors, layouts, templates, fonts, background,
buttons, adding a header and footer, and adding titles and meta
tags.
The Page Properties page is
broken down into several sections. The help pages below are
broken down into similar sections. Note: with few exceptions, the changes you make in
the page properties section will apply to your entire website.
If you pick a template, your customer's will see that same look
through out your entire website. If you pick a button, your
customers will see those buttons on every page. Click here to read about why it is important to have
a consistent look to your website.
Page Colors: Page, Font & Link Colors
Allows you to change the Page, Font & Link Colors
for your website pages. The default is black text, blue links and
a white background. Note that if your template or layout uses a
black background, the text will appear invisible because they are
both the same color.
Background Image
Allows you to either Choose a Background Image from Gallery or
Upload Your own Background Image. If you currently have a
background image and want to remove it, click on the Choose
Background Image From Gallery link and then click on the Remove
Image - Use Color button. If you want to select a plain
background color for your website or change the existing color,
you do this under the Page Colors section (see
the section above).
Title Space / Company
Logo
The Title Space appears at the top of your website and
appears on every page of your website. Every pre-made
template that we provide has an area reserved for your company
name (and phone number, e-mail address, or address).
Customize The Template Title - allows you to customize your existing
title space.
Upload New Template Title - allows you to upload the title space you
created using your own image editor. If you are using one
of our templates, this section shows you the part of the
template you can use for the title space (under Original
Image). If you want to use your own image editor to
customize the title space, right click on the
Original Image and save it to your computer. Make your
changes using your program. Then upload your new image in
this section.
Delete
Template Title Image - allows you to delete the
current title space. The system will give you a warning
message and ask you whether you are sure you want to
delete the title image. If yes, then click on the Remove
button.
Select a Blank
Image from Gallery - allows you to select a
blank title space image from the gallery of images we
provide. There are more than 40 categories of images with
more than 2000 title spaces. Note: If
you have a layout, then you can only use these if you are
using one of the Page Layouts that allows for a title
space image. In
the Basic Page Layouts, the layouts that allow for a
title space image start with Layout number 9 and include
"Your Tile Image" in the display example. Every
Advanced Page Layout allows for a title space. You can
also use these with the Templates but that is generally
an odd choice because the images do not match.
Build an Animated Title with
Multiple Images -
allows you to upload at least 4 images to be rotated in
the title space area.
Menu Buttons
The Menu Buttons appear on every page of your
website. Depending on the template or page layout you use, they
can be on the side (either left of right), at the top, or at the
top and bottom. Every pre-made template that we provide has a
matching button. For more information on building buttons read
the Button Basics Page.
- Make Menu Button Images - by default, the menu links on the website
are text. This section allows you to make buttons for
your text links. Every pre-made template we provide has a
button that matches the template you are using. You also
make your own images.
- Delete All Menu Button Images
- If you have buttons on your page rather than text links,
this section allows you to delete all the buttons at once.
Click on the Delete All Buttons button to remove all the
buttons and replace them with text links.
- Upload Your Own Button Image
- allows you to upload a button image that you made
yourself using your own image editing program. You can
use your own button with either the pre-made templates or
the layouts. Click on the Browse button, find the image
in your computer, and the click on the Upload Button
button. Note: you will still
need to make the buttons so they come up on your website. To do this,
you will click on the Make Menu Button Images link.
- Choose Button from Gallery - we provide over 3500 button blanks that
you can use on your website. You can use these with both
the pre-made templates and the layouts. Find the button
you like and then click on the Add Button button. Note:
you will still need to make the buttons so they come up on your website. To do this,
you will click on the Make Menu Button Images link after adding the button.
- Define Order of Menu Buttons - allows you to set the
order of your buttons. You will need to go through the
list and select the name of the button. For example, for
number 1, click on the little drop down arrow and pick
the button you want listed first such as Home. Generally,
Home should be first and Contact should be last. When you're
done, click on the Set Updates button.
- Exclude Pages/Buttons From Main Menu - allows you to exclude pages from your
main menu (the menu that appears on the side or top of
you website). You would want to use this feature if, for
example, you want to build an articles page. You will not
want to have every single article come up on your main
menu. Instead, you will want someone to click on the
Articles button and then be presented with a list of
articles. You will then link from that list to each of
those articles. To learn how to create those hyperlinks, read this help page (note that you
can link both text and pictures).
- Add Special Effects to Buttons - allows you to add mouseover effects to
your main menu buttons. All effects are CSS
based and may not be
compatible with some browsers. Select the effect you want
and then update your settings.
- Designate Alternate Links for
Buttons - allows
you to redirect your main menu buttons to another page or
website rather than the page the system designates.
Templates or Layouts
This section allows you to change the look of your
website. The pre-made templates are created by us for you to use
on the website you have on our system only. If you want to do the
minimum amount of work to have a good
looking website, then use the pre-made templates. If you
want more customization options, then you
should use a page layout. Advanced page layouts provide
you with the most customization options.
Standard Templates - allows you to select a pre-made template.
Find the template you like and click on the "Change
Template" button below the template. The look of
your website will change immediately (to see the change,
click on the Website Home icon at the top; remember that
you may need to refresh your
page). Each template comes with a title space and button
image that matches. You can change the
background on these templates to either a different color
or an image. You cannot change the inside color.
Boutique Templates - allows you to select a pre-made boutique
style template. These templates all have a side menu
heading for the following sections: Search, Shop Online,
Information, and Shopping Cart. The only
customization allowed on these templates is in the title
space area. You cannot change any of the colors or the
background.
Basic Page Layouts - allows you a lot more flexibility than
the templates. You can select whether you want a title
space, where you want the main menu (right, left, top, or
bottom), and allows you to select a color scheme. Some of
the layouts will allow you to have both a background
color or image and a foreground color.
Advanced Page Layouts - allows you more flexibility than the
Basic Page Layouts. Each layout has space for a title
space and menu buttons. The advanced paged layouts allow
you to customize all your border colors, your inside
colors, background colors, and menu colors. You can also
pick Boutique / e-Commerce Style layouts which include
main menu buttons at the top (below the title space) and
Search, Shop Online (with categories listed below), and
View Cart on the right or left hand side.
Advanced Layout Colors - allows you to select all the colors for
your Advanced Page Layout.
Fonts
The system includes over 6,000 unique fonts that you can use to
make your page special. You can use these fonts for images such
as the title space and the menu buttons. You can also download
these fonts into your computer and use them for images you make
yourself. These fonts cannot be used on the regular
pages; click here to learn why.
To use a font, you need to add it to your font gallery. Find the
font and click on Add; the system will add the font to your font
gallery. When you make menu buttons or title images, you can use
any of the fonts you selected.
Header & Footer
Sometimes you may want to advertise a sale or some special event
and want a notice to come up at the top or bottom of every
page. Maybe you want to have links at the bottom of every
page to your Policies section. The header and footer allow you to
add the information to every page.
Header
- allows you to type in text that will appear at the TOP
of every page. This text (or image) appears between your
title space (if you have one) and your regular text. You
can paste in HTML code into this section.
Footer
- allows you to type in text that will appear at the
BOTTOM of every page. This text (or image) appears
between your regular text and the copyright notice at the
bottom. You can paste in HTML code into this section.
Titles & Meta Tags
This section allows you to add page titles and meta tags
for your pages. Page Titles are important to have for search
engine optimization purposes but met tags are not necessary.
Designate Blank Pages
You may sometimes find it necessary to build a page that does not
include the full website design. You can designate pages that do
not have any page formatting other than what you build in the
editor. You can use this feature to create advertising pages or
have an intro or landing page. To make a page blank,
click on the Make Specified Pages Blank link, check the box next
to the pages you want blank and click on the Submit button to
save your settings.
This section gives more detail on
the advanced features provided in the Page Properties section.
These features are much more complicated and require that you pay
close attention to what you're doing.
Advanced Menu Tools
Allows you to create an advanced menu that will override
the standard menu. This menu allows you to have a multi-level
drop down menu.
Multi Level Menu Colors &
Settings - this is
the FIRST step in creating the
multi-level menu. This part is not complicated but notice
that you must specify everything. All
you need to do is go through and pick settings for
everything requested: Menu Alignment (vertical or
horizontal), Button Width, Button Colors, Button Text
Colors, Button Border, Font Type, Font Size, and Menu
Alignment within the table of the menu (left, right or
center).
Make New Multi Level Menu Tree - this is the SECOND step
in creating the multi-level menu.
Edit
Current Menu Tree - this page allows you to
make changes to what you did in the Second Step. This
screen looks very similar to what you saw in the above
help page. You can have up to 50 buttons. If you click on
this page and need additional buttons, fill in the spaces
provided and click on the Make Menu button. The system
will provide you with additional spaces.
Create Alternate Menu File - this page allows you to revert back to
the Standard Menu, to point the menu to a page you
created, or to use the Multi Level Menu.
Build / Edit robots.txt File
You can create and edit your robots.txt file. We have this in the
advanced users section because having the file is completely
unnecessary and very complicated. The file is used to tell bots
not to crawl directories or index pages. Since you want all of
your pages in the search engine you just don't use this file. But
in the event you want to exclude pages from the search engines
you can build the robots.txt file here.
Build Custom Templates
You can create your own custom template if you are an experienced
designer. Even if you do not have too much experience, you can
still create your own design if you have the proper software.
Keep in mind that you can do a lot using the Advanced Page
Layouts and may not even need to create a custom template.
Redirect Fictitious URLs
You can make up urls at your name for example https://yourdomain.com/getcash and have that address be redirected to an internal
or external url. This is beneficial if you want to redirect
someone to an affiliate url which may be considerably longer or
mask the true url from searches or customers. You can also
shorten longer urls such as shopping cart item pages and dynamic
urls with long query strings.
